I got a call out of the blue from the lovely Yana Kolmakova to come and help her by videoing an art project as she worked on it, the results of which are below.

It turned out a little different than I was expecting, I must say, and was the first time that I ended up working with Shawn from J2 Studios.

Well, that is the generally SFW video.  I've got a very different cut of the piece that Yana has never told me one way or another if it is okay to put online, as it is a bit more... NSFW, and I would'nt post that without her oversight. <ahem, if you ever read this...>

One of the reasons I am posting this is that the experience was a very interesting collaboration, and I almost immediately began to put together another project taking this artistic thesis, expanding it, and creating an even bigger work with (ideally) some weight behind it.

Of course, I vastly underestimated the logistical problems of getting a dozen visual artists to work together, and that project has fallen to the back burner, but i'm including the impetus behind this, for archival sake.

P.S.  In writing the title to this blog entry, I also had the fleeting thought that "Painting with Yana" along these lines would make for a great TV property... Might be a bit too racy for Public Broadcasting though.
